Art

I make concept art, illustration, and posters, most of them for games and some for their own sake. Click any piece to view it at full size.

Posters

Work printed to be hung. The Nightmare Slayer poster hung at gamescom 2023; the Racemarines poster shipped with the game.

Plate 01

Nightmare Slayer

Poster art for Nightmare Slayer. A game we made in a week. It was invited and exhibited at gamescom 2023.

Plate 02

Racemarines

Poster art for Racemarines, a game we made for university. It is a racing game with submarines.

Concept art

Worlds built on paper before they are built anywhere else: for a course, for a commission, and for games that wait.

Plate 03

Strange Planet

Here I was chasing a magical, unusual, and otherworldly inspiration for a game I wanted to make. I was inspired by the works of Jean Giraud (Moebius) and his unique approach to sci-fi landscapes.

Plate 04

The Singing Meadows

This piece was a part of a university course on concept art. I came up with a magical world and put it into a scene. The rocks here grow organic swirl shapes and some of the elders know how to read their meanings. There are also magical meadows that whistle and sing. It was a fun exercise in world-building and atmosphere creation.

Plate 05

Greek Minotaurs

This was a commissioned piece for the wiki page of a roleplay focused Minecraft server. I took inspiration from ancient Greeks and Romans to explore how a minotaur society could dress.

Plate 06

Lucky Lancer

The concept art for my mech in Lancer RPG. I did not play the game for a long time, but I have had a blast throwing enemy mechs with magnets. It is called Lucky because I never rolled above 2 and decided to make my mech a utility one afterwards.

Plate 07

Game Design Board

I drew this when I was designing an adventuring game with interesting mechanics. It is unfinished, since I went back to general game design principles while drawing after I realized certain shortcomings in the core game loop.

Paintings & studies

Work made for its own sake: after the old masters, for friends, and for the love of the thing.

Plate 08

Death and Resurrection

This piece was inspired by the Death of Socrates by Jacques-Louis David. I reinterpreted the scene to show a character (the Old Man) who was the founder of an adventurers guild. After his death, he was resurrected by a ratfolk necromancer to be drawn into the dark side as his former life was left as a blur.

Plate 09

Crown of Plato

This was my experiment on contrasting my vision of human society with Plato's theory of three metals. The crown depicts a society where brass (citizens) form the base and backbone. They are reinforced by silver (guardians), while gold (leadership) stay connected with the rest, without neglecting emerald (spirituality). The wreath depicts mobility.

Plate 10

Warmth Left Behind

An artwork I painted out of sheer admiration upon finishing Ghost of Tsushima. It depicts one of the most memorable scenes in the game where you leave your past identity behind for good and... move on.

Plate 11

Brothers

This is an artwork I made for my best friend. It depicts our characters as we played (and absolutely loved) Starbound, exploring wild planets and getting lost in the vastness of space.

Plate 12

Rose Study

I painted this small rose study because I love roses.

My art is not separate from my games: my Nightmare Slayer poster hung at gamescom, my Racemarines poster shipped with a university project, and the concept-art habit is the same one that sketches a cannon blast before I build its shader graph.
